Great Basin Area, Nevada

The Great Basin area ranks among our favorite places in Nevada. On this visit, however, the abundant snow and ice on the mountains significantly limited our explorations. Despite these constraints, we had a fantastic time, and the views of snow-capped peaks rising above the high desert were simply breathtaking. We also had some memorable wildlife encounters: we spotted wild turkeys, a golden eagle and Vicky narrowly missed stepping on a coiled-up rattlesnake just by a few inches. Luckily, the snake remained indifferent to her presence, and Vicky was equally nonplussed.
